B’nei mitvzot
Entry into adulthood (either as a preteen or for an adult who missed out on one earlier) is a momentous occasion for the Jewish community and our community celebrates them on a regular basis. We can provide details for well-qualified instructors to prepare for a B’nei mitzvah ceremony and then joyously come together to celebrate our new member as they join the community as a new Jewish aduit.
Conversion
Conversion to Judaism begins with a year-long “Introduction to Judaism” course, and continues through working together with an accredited rabbi. If you are interested in pursuing a pathway to becoming Jewish, feel free to reach out to us for recommendations on appropriate programmes.
Weddings
Couples looking for a Jewish wedding in Christchurch have used our historic chuppah, and we can put you in contact with one of the North Island rabbis to officiate.
Death
The Chevra Kadisha Christchurch provides Taharah funeral preparation for those wishing to be buried in the Jewish section of Linwood Cemetery or abroad. We can also arrange for Shiva Minyanim, yahrzeit remembrances, and other memorialisations.
